BUILDING SERVICES & ENERGY CONSULTANTS

Total Environment is a Chartered Building Services Consultancy that undertake the design of building services for new and refurbished buildings. We were founded in 1993 and have successfully completed numerous projects for clients in both the public and private sectors such as building owners, tenants, facilities managers, developers and architects.

Our principal areas of activity are in the design of building services and in the energy efficiency of buildings. Large savings in energy are usually possible at little or no cost. An energy audit of your building will reveal the areas where these savings can be made. Payback periods of just a few months are often possible.

Typical projects include :

Grade 2 listed building. The listing made the building services system design and installation rather more challenging that the average office building. Provision of ventilation, heating, cooling, power, data and telecommunications was achieved using the existing floor void for distribution. Lighting was provided using wall mounted uplighters cabled from the floor distribution system in order that the skirting boards and ceiling cornices were not disturbed. An external steel platform was provided, cantilevered over a glazed atrium to house the primary cooling, heating and ventilation plant.

Fit-out of newly refurbished offices. Services provided included modification of the existing mechanical services systems to suit the new space plan, replacement of lighting systems in discrete areas, provision of a structured power system, data and telecommunication systems.

Refurbishment of existing flats into seven luxury flats including a penthouse apartment. Services included a new lift installation, radiator heating systems using high efficiency condensing boilers, potable water storage with water boosting, comfort cooling systems, lighting, power, TV/Satelite systems, video door entry system and telecommunications.

Lewisham College. Since 1994 we have been working, primarily as Lead Consultants. Projects we have undertaken for the College include Breakspears Building chiller replacement, mechanical and electrical plant condition surveys, replacement of hot water storage system serving the main site in Breakspears Road with gas fired condensing water boilers, noise mitigation measures for Deptford site (necessary because of the DLR line passing close to College buildings), reduction in water charges, annual energy audits and energy reduction proposals.
